For the 13th edition, Market brought together galleries, artists, collectors, art professionals and enthusiasts from the Nordic region and beyond at Liljevalchs Konsthall. 6,900 visitors attended Market Art Fair 2018, making it the most visited edition to date.

"It has been a great week at the fair, with record attendance that translated into strong sales during the fair. We are proud of the outcome. The exhibitors showcased ambitious presentations of high quality works by great artists from the Nordic region and beyond, " says Carl Sundevall, Director Market Art Fair.

This year 35 galleries participated, with 4 exhibitors taking part for the first time, amongst other the Norwegian gallery STANDARD (OSLO). Once again, the gallery presentations consisted of well curated solo- or duo presentations. This edition of the fair marked a first step in also welcoming galleries from outside the Nordic region, with London-based Knight Webb Gallery presenting Swedish artist Anders Knutsson.

"Market Art Fair was fantastic in a lot of ways. We noticed that visitors had longed for Market to be back at Liljevalchs, and we received several positive comments on the gallery presentations, showing maximum two artists. Overall, Market 2018 was characterised by a positive vibe, good sales and lots of interesting interactions during the intensive and stimulating fair days, " says Sara Sandström Nilsson, Director and owner Galleri Andersson/Sandström (SE).

Market Talks brought a varied programme of panel discussions and interviews to the public. As a conversational platform, Market Talks addressed notions of inequality relating to representation and diversity in today's art world, in accordance with global collective movements like #metoo and #blacklivesmatter. We also saw interviews with collectors and artists as well as live podcasts and performances.

The different sections were programmed in collaboration with C-Print, Gothenburg International Biennial of Art (GIBCA), Iaspis, Moderna Samlare and Danielsson & Carlson. The stage design was curated by Hayley Barsden in collaboration with Woodstockholm.

We Will Return To Liljevalchs12-14 April 2019
