miart 2017 announces the third edition of the Herno Prize, developed in partnership with Herno. The prize is dedicated to the booth with the strongest exhibition project, which has been conceived with the ambition of an exhibition and that also combines outstanding research and attention to the layout.

The award consists of a monetary prize of € 10.000 and the international Jury will be comprised of:

Suzanne Cotter, Director, Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto
Anne Pontégnie, Independent Curator, Le Consortium, Dijion - Cranford Collection, London
Nicolaus Schafhausen, Director, Kunsthalle Wien

With the Herno Prize, miart and Herno set out to recognize new value to the theme of exhibition making and the concept of display, focusing on shared virtues. The pursuit of absolute quality and expertise that is the basis for the best contemporary art and the finest manufacturing constitutes a necessary starting point, which must then be sustained by an equally important capacity to display and to capture attention, creating a perfect balance between creativity, aesthetics, functional impact and enjoyment. In this way, the Herno Prize has the objective of highlighting the historical and contemporary role of the gallery as a place of production of knowledge through the format of the exhibition.

"Fashion and art speak common languages, and also share in research on innovative forms of communication – Claudio Marenzi, CEO of Herno, explains. – Both come from a creative, inner process, and then move towards a universal dimension, reaching a vast audience. It is not just a matter of form, but also of intrinsic value and essence, which must be made visible and accessible to consumers. In my view, this is the true resemblance between the processes of distribution of art and fashion. The goal of this prize is to prompt discussion of these themes, to encourage debate.”
